Br. Najam Syed

Najam has always been captivated by the sheer awesomeness of this vibrant and cohesive northern community.  Here, he’s been fortunate to work with a great many amazing individuals, each of them giants of their domains, who have helped him understand that it is only through service that we can move ourselves and our communities forward.  He is passionate about crafting and supporting teams and systems that can bring novel solutions to age old problems, and he firmly believes that it is one’s responsibility to strive for excellence in all that one endeavors to do.  He is humbled to be a part of this initiative.

Br. Muhammad Azhar
(Treasurer 2023-2025)

Muhammad Azhar holds an Honors Business Commerce degree with a specialization in accounting from Lakehead University. He has been serving as the Finance Officer at Lakehead University Student Union and has been a resident of Thunder Bay since 2008. An active member of the Thunder Bay Masjid community, Muhammad Azhar has also contributed as a member of the Board of Trustees. Furthermore, he has been instrumental in the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) chapter at Lakehead University, where he has worked tirelessly to eliminate educational barriers for refugee students. With a firm belief in the fundamental right of every child to receive a quality education, Muhammad Azhar envisions the Islamic Academy as an essential institution in providing such education to the Thunder Bay community.
